Information for next week...

Phonics: We will continue working with “long vowels” and the “sneaky e” rule this week. Long vowels are when the vowel says its name—not the sound! We will continue reviewing the following digraphs: /sh/, /th/, and /ch/. Digraphs are “2 letters that go together to make 1 sound.” Ask your child for the hand motions after Wednesday!

**I have started reading Matilda to the class. Reading a chapter book is helping their comprehension skills. Plus, it is such a cute story and the kids LOVE it!

Math: We will continue studying units of measurement this week. We will work with rulers as well as comparing lengths of non-standard units of measurement — like linking cubes, “inch worms,” and other math manipulatives.

Writing: Children are beginning to improve with their writing! We are learning to write several sentences and adding details. Keep up the good work!

Extra Information:
-Spring pictures will be made Thursday (April 1st).
-Extra yearbooks will be sold 1st come, 1st serve Wednesday, March 31 in the library for $35.00.
-The class seems to have “spring fever” already, so please remind your child about classroom rules and appropriate school behavior!
-Don’t forget to be working on your homework chart in your folder. Your children should be reading a good bit at night, but not many are coloring in their monthly reading paper—please help them remember!!
-Remember to send your child’s snack EVERYDAY! THANKS, LAYLA for bringing extra snack to share with your friends!!
-“Show and tell” was a huge motivator for the class. I may do it more often, but I will always send a note beforehand, so please keep toys at home unless I ask for them!! Thanks!
