NEW ITEMS IN FOLDERS...

There will be two new items in your child's folder tomorrow. Here is a brief explanation of each:

1. Color a leaf for each book you read with your child. The paper says to leave it in your folder, but you need to leave it at home until your child has colored all of the leaves. If your child CAN read you a book, only color the leaves for books your child reads. If your child is not ready to read independently, color a leaf for each book you read together. If your child names letters or sight words in the book--THAT IS READING FOR YOUR CHILD!!!!! Encourage them to continue doing what they can...that is how they will build the confidence needed to become a reader!!! When all leaves are colored, your child will get a prize from the school bus! YAY!

2. On the front of your child's behavior log, there is a table of activities to be completed with your child at your convenience...there are not dates in each box. Please do these as you can and mark them off so I know you and your child have completed the activity. Read over the activities in advance because some things can be done in the car, while you are cooking dinner, etc. Every time your child fills up a row across the table they will receive a prize from the school bus--a real motivator!!!

Thanks for all the time you are putting in with your children! The benefits of this time is priceless!!! Have fun, and let me know if you have any questions!! :) MM

Thanks, Parents!

Thanks to all of the parents who came to our Parent Meeting tonight before the PTO Meeting! I hope you found the information helpful and have a better understanding of your child's days spent in Kindergarten!! I am so proud of all the children in our class! They are adjusting to school very well...work quality improved today--thanks for encouraging your children to do their BEST on everything!!

We are off to a super year! Remember to let me know if you have any questions or need anything!

I will send out sign-up sheets to schedule individual parent-teacher conferences!

If you are REALLY selling Innisbrook, please send your books to school and I will try to order some items...they have really cute merchandise this year!!!

REMEMBER...wear BLUE tomorrow! Also, send something small for the colored collages!!! Thanks!!

Thanks, Jaelyn!!

We have such a sweet class!! Jaelyn knew that today is Neal Thomas' birthday, and she brought cupcakes for our class to celebrate this special day for my sweet baby!! We enjoyed the yummy cupcakes on red day!!!

Playground Fun!!

Here are some snapshots of our free play on the playground! The kids love to cut loose and run wild!! What a fun bunch of Kindergarteners!!!

R is for R, R, Rabbit!

Here are our fabulous Rabbit sack puppets!! They each have a name and help us remember what sound R says!!

Our Good Morning Song!!

To signal the children to clean up and meet me on the carpet I play "Hello Neighbor" by Dr. Jean. They welcome each other with a little hug and sing along with the music! It is so cute!!!! Here are some quick snapshots of the process!

Colors are all around us!!!

We will begin our “Colors” unit next week, and it will carry until September 11th. Each day, I am asking that your child wear the designated color to school. The kids will love being dressed similarly! Also, we will create a “color collage” for each color. So, please bring something that will remain at school to add to the collages. If it is easier for you to find something for each color over the weekend, and send it in a Ziploc baggie, I will help your child keep up with it!

Assigned color days are:
Monday, August 31st –Red
Tuesday, September 1—Blue
Wednesday, 9/2—Green
Thursday, 9/3—Yellow
Friday, 9/4—Girls- pink; Boys-gray
Monday, 9/7—NO SCHOOL! HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!
Tuesday, 9/8—Orange

"My Family" Projects

I have received a few of the "My Family" projects, and they are looking great! You will love this traveling book! Remember, use photos, stickers, scrapbooking stuff...whatever you feel best tells about your family! **Jaelyn brought her paper in today and they completed their project on the computer and printed out the pictures. If you choose to do that, you can send it on white paper so the pictures look their best. Otherwise, let's stick to the blue paper I sent home. If you need another sheet, just let me know!! I cannot wait to see your families!

Our first traveling book went home tonight with Katlyn. Please be sure to return the book to school with your child the NEXT day so it can travel through the class quickly! Your kids are really proud of their work, and I am sure they will tell you all about their friends as you share these books together! What a great group of sweeties!!!

Thanks for all you do!! :) MM

Thanks!!!

Thanks, Alyssa, for bringing paper bags today! We will begin using them tomorrow!

Needed item...

I need some brown paper sacks for some sack puppet crafts!! If you can send them, I would really appreciate it!! Thanks! MM

New Letter...Rr!

As we learned about our new letter, Rr, we wrote our names on this chart. The kids had to really think about the letters in their name to see if it had an R. They are used to writing their names, but really have to think about what those letters mean!!! Great job!!

"ME" Projects

Hey Parents!! I hope that you are getting into the "swing of things!" (I think it will take a few more days to get used to getting up so early at my house!!) Information went home today about your child's "ME" project. I need you to cut the first letter of thier name out of a large piece of poster board. Then, decorate it with things they like to do, pictures of them growing up, etc. You can include favorite candy bar wrappers, etc...anything to help them share about themselves. This will be due next Friday, August 21st. Let me know if you have any questions!!

Thanks!! I am really enjoying all of your children! They are precious!!

Kindergarten Fun!!!

These are a few snapshots from today's Free Center time!! This is one of the sweetest and cutest classes I have ever had! They already know how to unpack in the mornings, and pack up in the afternoon...a real accomplishment if you have ever taught--especially Kindergarten!! Look for more pictures soon!! **I know it looks like we have more girls than boys...we do, but several of the boys' parents did not want their pictures published. Parents, let me know if you change your mind!!**

Sarah and Layla "dressing up" and headed to cheerleader practice!

All of the boys love the dress up box, too!!

Zachary and Hope and their inventions!

Chante' and Kylie playing in the play-dough! I think they were making me a cake!! Yummy!

Queen Kylie...our first queen!! Each child gets to be the King or Queen for the day! They get to wear a crown and everybody works together to make a book for them. They feel super special and it is a great way for them to find out what they have in common with each other!! Look for your child's book and crown to come home soon!!
