News about this week...

Phonics: Wa-hoo! We have finished the alphabet. We will begin working on the following digraphs: /sh/, /th/, and /ck/ this week. Digraphs are “2 letters that go together to make 1 sound.” Ask your child for the hand motions after Wednesday!

Math: We will continue working with coins and subtraction this week, but will also be beginning to see how “a whole object can be divided into equal parts.”

Writing: We will continue to try to write several sentences about the same subject during our Writing Workshop. Most of the class is having trouble with this. Please encourage your child to write as much as possible!!

Theme: We will continue learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln this week.

Extra Information:
· FUN RUN was super fun! Collection envelopes went home Friday…all money is due Thursday.

· It is Read Across America week, and we are actually celebrating for 2 weeks. Make sure you keep up with the items your child should wear/bring to school over the next two weeks. If you have lost your paper, send me a note to get a new one or check the blog. All items are listed there!

· Thanks for sending popsicle sticks. We will be making log cabins to represent Abraham Lincoln’s home.
· Remember to send your child’s snack EVERYDAY! I am out of “extra snack!!”
· Remember to check the class blog often! www.mmsclass.blogspot.com
· Send your child in a coat every day! It is cold outside, but we will continue to go out to play if the temperature is 40 degrees or higher!!!
· “Show and tell” was a huge motivator for the class. I may do it more often, but I will always send a note beforehand, so please keep toys at home unless I ask for them!! Thanks!
