The BIG day...FUN RUN!!!

All 16 classes lined up ready to run!
Here we go!

Kids ran for 30-40 minutes. We had fun lap themes like the Rodeo Lap, Dance Lap, Conga Line Lap, and Beat the Boosterteam Lap!

As a motivator to get more pledges, the winning class got to have their teacher shove a pie in Coach Childers' face...Mrs. Seimers class won, but we all got to watch!!
What a good sport!!

Team "MILLER MAGIC" did a great job and had a blast! We are definitely the BEST!!!

BOOSTERTHON UPDATE...

So sorry for the “show and tell” confusion—we will have it tomorrow afternoon. Your child can bring their favorite toy to show to their friends. The toy will have to stay in their backpack until time for “show and tell,” so please make sure it fits in their backpack! Thanks!

FUN RUN is TOMORROW at 10:30—please come if you can!!! Because the weather will be cold, please send your child to school in a long sleeved shirt. I am keeping shirts here and will give them to the kids in the morning. They will wear their new Boosterthon shirt OVER their long sleeved shirt. (Teachers mark off the laps on the shirt, so they would be pretty cold if they only wear the t-shirt!)

You will be responsible for collecting money for the pledges your child has. PLEASE be quick with this to make sure our class gets 20% of the total we bring in!! You will get a note about how many laps your child ran, so you will know how much to collect! Thanks for all of your support!! The kids and I have had fun with this fundraiser!

**Look for your “Read Across America” Dr. Seuss note on the bright orange paper—we have activities planned for the next two weeks as well!**

· Kids are SUPER excited about the Boosterthon Fun Run—it will be Thursday!! I will let you know the time as soon as I have it. Send in those pledges!!!

· Because only 3 students brought back a spring semester donation, I will have to continue to ask for needed items in the classroom. If you can send them, I would really appreciate it!!

**We need some new ink cartridges—I bought a Kodak ESP-5 All in One printer this summer because the ink is cheaper. If you can buy black and/or colored ink, I would really appreciate it!
**I also need a box of Popsicle sticks for an art project next week.

The Miller MAGIC team has $15 pledged per lap, so we passed our first $10 goal…wear SILLY SOCKS tomorrow—mismatch them, find funny ones, whatever makes you happy!!!

THE BOOSTERTHON IS HERE!!!

Team "MILLER MAGIC" ROCKS!!!

Meet "Big House," our Boosterteam representative--he really pumped our class up this morning!! There are 3 other "Booster-guys" just like him and the whole school is excited about this fundraiser!!
The Boosterthon Fun Run will be next Thursday, February 25th. I am not sure what time our class will run, but I will let you know so you can plan to be there! The Boosterthon Fun Run is a way to raise money for our school without simply asking you, the parent, for a donation. You can ask ANYONE to sponsor your child. They can pledge an amount per lap or pledge a flat donation. Each student will run between 25 and 35 laps! There is a 35 lap limit!!

Each morning, "Big House" will come into our classroom to check the pledge books, give a short character lesson to the class, and give out prizes to those students who have earned them by getting pledges. In addition to the individual prizes a student can win, I have given the class "TEAM" incentives we can all enjoy! They are listed below...

If we get this amount pledged per lap...we get this prize!!

$30...Bring a toy to read to during "Read to self!"

$40...Show and Tell your favorite toy!

The kids are super excited, so please encourage them and help raise some money for our school and class! We get 20% of the money COLLECTED for our class donation account!! We need it!!

Needed item...

I need some small marshmallows for a project later this week!! We are studying "DENTAL HEALTH" and will be making models of our mouths!! HA! I have never done this before, but I think they will be really cute!! If you can send some marshmallows, that would be super helpful! Thanks!!!

No School Tomorrow...

I have just found out that school will be cancelled tomorrow...hopefully we will get some snow this time!! We will have our Valentine's party Monday afternoon--what a way to start a new week! Have a good weekend!! MM

Math Take-Home Project--Due Friday, Feb. 5th!!

You and your child need to look around the house for examples of the following three-dimensional shapes: cone, cylinder, sphere, and cube.

Please help students divide a full-sized poster into fourths, label each box with a shape, and glue the shapes to the poster board. If you have trouble finding actual objects, you may look for objects in magazines or the newspaper. But, please find at least one object around the house for each shape!!

Examples for each shape…but you can be creative!!
Cone—ice cream cone, party hat
Cylinder—paper towel roll, toilet paper roll
Sphere—ball
Cube—box, blocks

Please send me a note if you have any questions!
