Math: This week we will be learning our ordinal numbers. We will learn how to identify and write them. We will also concentrate on our addition facts as well. Tuesday we will have fun with a watermelon. We will guess how many seeds are inside. We will then slice and eat the sweet, juicy watermelon counting the seeds as we go. A prize will be awarded to the person that came the closest to the correct number. Afterwards we will go outside to have a seed spitting contest. I wonder who can spit a seed the farthest?

Science: We will continue to study our five senses. This week we will concentrate on our senses of smell, taste, and touch. Friday will be the culmination of our unit. We will have a popcorn party. We will read The Popcorn Book then microwave some hot, buttery popcorn. We will guess how many seeds won’t pop then count to find out if we were close to the number. We will talk about how the kernel changed its form and use descriptive words as we write about its texture, smell, and taste.
